This blog will be about my new journey to rediscovering "me"! I am writing to understand my feelings during life experiences and answer questions I ponder daily with the situations I am confronted with as a chronic pain sufferer. I hope this will not only enlighten me but you as the reader....to truly be part of this awakening to living with pain.
36 Verses to Healing #11
8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
In reading that short, simple verse one may assume, how easy, not much to say about this one, isn't obvious what it means? Jesus never changes! Although the statement, that He never changes, is a true one to my knowledge, I believe it is not as easy as some assume nor is its meaning so obvious that we have nothing to dissect or discuss. My first argument being, we are talking about Jesus Christ, the Savior, our all powerful King, Ruler of ALL, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, the Redeemer, nothing concerning an entity so powerful should be discussed so carelessly or with enormous flippant disregard.
Yesterday, some may only believe that it refers to just the day before, but in this context it goes back much further then one day, in fact we are being teleported my Alien readers because we are traveling back to the beginning of time known to man. Now this verse is certainly taking on some importance, it is acknowledging a complete, unquestionable, status quo over a tremendous period of time and we have yet to consider 'today' or 'forever'! At a very young age we learn that most everything 'changes' over time, like our physical bodies, the seasons, our weather, all living organisms that adapt and grow, some of our opinions during or after many life experiences, etc.... So when we discuss something that never changes through ages of time, during enormous upheaval, and through so many different translations and cultures, we begin to ascertain the true complexity of this verse. What if Jesus Christ was fickle, unpredictable, temperamental and inconsistent? Just imagine or entertain the idea for a moment that He was changeable over time, never constant in His teachings, refused to perform miracles, cursed, was unforgivable towards our sins sending us to hell, stole from the poor, made angels evil in nature, or even spread lies and gossiped!!! I would now put money on the assumption that we all will concur about the absolute ridiculousness of a discontinuous, changeable, unbalanced definition of Jesus Christ!
Today, a specified moment in time referring to now, at this moment, or presently. In contrast to yesterday or the past! The only things in life we can absolutely, without a doubt be sure of is what is currently unfolding or happening right this moment, and Jesus Christ's predictable nature to: NEVER forsake us, love us unconditionally , follow His formulated plan for us, be at our side whenever we call on Him and allow us forgiveness of sins with a promise of life eternal if we believe in Him! Getting through today and wanting to be here tomorrow would be so much more challenging and unpredictable without the knowledge of His perpetual being or existence. Without the encouragement of Him having a plan for us, would we even put in any effort to do what is right, or if His expectations are not clearly defined like in the Ten Commandments and change variably could we even trust and have faith in Him?
Forever!!! This represents to the very conclusion of time and through to eternity! The word 'forever' not only conjures up a sentimental and romantic feeling, but is deeply embedded within my heart, sewn in passionately with careful, intimate and loving stitches from my hubby. Jesus will always be that One Spiritual constant Entity that NEVER changes himself, the rules, His love, and the truth. Our salvation lies in the hands of a predictable, loving, truthful and forgiving teacher. Can you trust Him enough, to allow your open mind, body and spirit be 100% given to His miraculous, healing and loving hands? Your job, you may ask? My fellow Aliens you already know your task........KEEP THE FAITH, HOPE, and LOVE alive for Jesus Christ and continue to pray faithfully as you have done yesterday, today, and will forever and always!!!

Loved this one its nice knowing Jesus is always &never changing. We can depend on him being there for us.But also to know hes able to change us makes me know hes working on me .Does this make sense???
ReplyDeleteThis is a short verse but Denise you broke it down so well because it does say so very much.
ReplyDeleteWhen we think back to how Jesus was in the beginning of time we see our Son of God born in a manger to a couple with meager earnings. Who taught and walked about men. Who did all kinds of miracles and who die on the Cross at Calvary that day for all our sins! And your right yesterday span across a broad amount of time.
And as we live today I know for me there are days I simply could not go on if I did not know that God is in control and still watching over me. That no matter how bad I feel he is still able to take care of it and me and get me through it. I cannot imagine not knowing Jesus and still being able to endure the life I have lead.
Then we come to forever. Wow eternity forever more what we all strive to get to the point we stand before our Lord and long to hear Job well done my good and Faithful servant. So of course we continue to pray each and everyday. Read God's word and learn more of what he son did for us. And what he has to teach us. Because of course he is still the Amazing teacher that we will continue to follow and worship and know he will preform amazing things in our Life's!
He already has brought amazing things to me first you my dear sister and Bill. It was no accident you came into my life and I thank him daily for that.
