This blog will be about my new journey to rediscovering "me"! I am writing to understand my feelings during life experiences and answer questions I ponder daily with the situations I am confronted with as a chronic pain sufferer. I hope this will not only enlighten me but you as the reader....to truly be part of this awakening to living with pain.
36 Verses to Healing #6
34 And He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be healed of your affliction.”
This verse is one of many examples in the Bible of Jesus healing people and performing miracles on those who had shown Him their unyielding faith. Seems we have uncovered a repetitive theme in most of these verses thus far; that having undeniable "faith" in Him and His ability to perform a miracle healing on you is key!
I went to see a healer every weekend many years ago and he would not only lay hands but teach and share with me his knowledge and techniques. Focus, meditation, relaxation and prayer were pertinent for me to learn and do during my time with him. In researching and reading about prayer I found that a repetitive, thorough but concise prayer was not only helpful in retention so you didn't leave anything out but improved my ability to focus and meditate. I am sharing with you, my favorite followers, for the very first time, an example of one of my personal prayers.....enjoy but keep in mind it is a prayer that aided me and my circumstances at that moment in life.
"Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for all the blessings you provide in my life, especially a loving husband that tries so very hard to provide all he can for me. I am thankful for the roof over my head, food in the pantry, family, friends and finances to pay my bills and so much more. Lord, I ask you tonight and always to watch over Bill and protect him, for without him I would be lost. As you know we so desperately want a child of our own and need your miraculous healing hands to be upon me (I would lay my hands on the area I needed healing), my arms are open to receive You and will accept any messages, or signs that are given to me. I want to feel the warmth of your love and peace surround me. I want you to help me remember the important aspects of my dreams and to forget the rest, to have the knowledge to understand them, the wisdom to discern the message within, and the ability to be used as a vessel of your enormous power to help heal and give others hope for the future. I am sorry for failing you in so many ways and ask that you guide me along the path you have laid before me and provide opportunities for learning and growing in my faith. In the name of Jesus Christ I pray, Amen."
The last part of our verse tonight mentions 'peace' as a result of being freed of illness. Maybe the term "Prince of Peace" was derived from this concept of Jesus bringing peace to all who are touched by Him. If you read my experience with the healer and my prayer above carefully a bell should have rung in your mind, for the word 'peace' is a common feeling or state of being when praying or having hands laid upon you. In our crazy, busy, stress filled lives it is often impossible to feel peaceful or allow for a peaceful time to pray and be open to receiving Him. If you do one thing for yourself, allow for at least ten minutes of peaceful prayer or meditation in your day, it will center you and provide a renewed feeling of energy to get through the rest of the day. During healing sessions I would get so relaxed I would often fall asleep and always felt enormous peace, like a cloud 9 feeling, after and during our 2 hour ride home.
I know you probably do not want to hear this, but I am giving you all homework! Write down the things in your life that you desperately need to work on, your blessings, and whatever needs healing (emotional, physical and psychological pains) then create a prayer that you can memorize and repeat anytime you pray. There is no right or wrong way, this is personal to your life experience and meant just for you......I would never ask you to share it unless it is something you want or need to share then by all means do so. My hope is that you all are able to feel peace each time you say your prayer and remember that above all else He is and always will be the 'answer to your prayers"!!!
Goodnight and "peace out" my fellow Aliens! xxxx

this is very strange that you would pick this for your blog. last night at Bible study we read 2 Cor 9-10. And he said to me "my grace is sufficient for you,for my strenght is made perfect in weakness. therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmaties that the power of Christ may rest upon me. therefore I take pleasure in infirmities in reproaches in needs in presecutions. in distress. for Christ's sake for when I am weak, then I am strong. if we are sick or hurting or depressed God's hand is allways there to lift us up, and us through anything we are facing.
ReplyDeleteNot strange, there are no coincidences in life for there is a reason and purpose for everything! Obviously God was trying to get a point across to you since He used more then one avenue to get your attention! God works in so many mysterious ways and has quite an unusually sarcastic sense of humor at times when we are ignorant and not paying attention to what He is teaching.......I have had experiences where I could not deny that it was His doing and yet I still questioned it, yup thick headed so He must resort to using non traditional methods to get my attention!! It is hard at times Ben when the pain is awful and unbearable to keep that faith that I am strong because thoughts go down instead of up and help reinforce my anger where if I looked upward I would probably get renewed strength from Him.......it's all in reinforcement of better habits and eliminating the destructive ones! Thanks for the thought provoking post Ben :-)
DeleteDenise it's funny but I already have that kind of prayer I do! Been doing that quite sometime now and I agree it helps to center me and leaves me feeling peaceful esp. when I do it on a regular basis like I have started to do. Seems we are on the same page a lot well most of the time..
ReplyDeleteBen shared with you our studies from last night. As we were all talking my cousin brought up at times have you not wondered with all Paul did why God did not heal him of this thorn in his side? Of course I have most I think have but my answer was maybe because if he was healed of it he would not be weak to where he is listening and doing God's will. And that way he learned that his grace is sufficent. We never know why we go through things when they are happening but God does and in those times when we are faithful I truly believe he is using us.
So Yes I believe it all leads back to Faith and having peace in knowing he is there with us at ALL TIMES!!!! Which is truly hard to remember when we are in the midst of a storm.
Can you imagine the Faith it took for her to touch the hem of his garment. Then receive her healing.
Love this Blog, Loved your prayer and Simply Love You!
